We don't go into DC nearly enough. It's about an hour trip and can get crowded but those are pretty lame excuses to keep us from the amazing stuff to see down there.
I took Gareth and Rosemary to the Hirshhorn museum where they and some of the French-speaking friends were led around by a French-speaking tour guide.
Rosie did well paying close attention and asking so many questions that the guide eventually had to ask, "Does anyone else have a question?"

Gareth was largely bored but liked a few of the sculptures. I was just happy he didn't walk out of the tour.
Personally I don't get much out of the Hirshhorn and can't believe people go in here with so many other good things to see nearby. Maybe if you were stuck on a desert island and the only structure to take shelter in was the Hirshhorn (okay, I have to admit... it's a very cool building), then I could see wandering through and looking at the art, at least until it stopped raining.
